Charlie's Sticky Foods’ inception was in August 2006. It was a weekend like any other, a few friends were over co-founder, Charlie's home for an afternoon of barbeque and relaxation. As the meat was almost ready, Charlie called out for some BBQ sauce, only to soon realize there was none left. As it was too late to go purchase some, he decided to ask his brother and now partner, John, to mind the grill while he ran into the kitchen and quickly mixed together some essential ingredients in an effort to make his own sauce.
To say the rest is history would be cutting this remarkable story short. That particular mix of ingredients on that lovely afternoon proved to be quite the experiment. Although not a finished product, it was thick, tasty, and yes, even sticky. The potential was there.
This is when the comments of “You should bottle this stuff” began. It was quite humorous at first, but soon the conversation took a more serious tone. Once lunch was over, it was back in the kitchen.
After a few frustrating and messy weeks of mixing and testing various mixtures of numerous ingredients, finally, what you know today as Charlie’s Sticky Sauce Original, was born. A BBQ sauce that made the other available sauces on the marketplace pale in comparison, in both quality and taste. Soon after, came the Mid-Evil and Stupid Hot flavors.
What Charlie had created was not only BBQ sauces, but dipping sauces, stir-fry sauces, sauces for grilling, glazing, and marinating. They can be used as a main staple for such favorites as ribs and wings, to steak, chili, potatoes, meatloaf and meatballs, to name a few. Soon, family, friends and neighbors all wanted some for themselves. What began as a last minute experiment, turned into a product consumers wanted to stock in their pantries.
With such a high demand, Charlie knew his BBQ Sauces were marketable. So with the help of his brother John, and long time friend Enzo, the process began. Together, these Three gentlemen, friends, and BBQ lovers, put in the time, resources, and commitment necessary to get to the next level. From day one, they were told it would take a minimum of 2 years to hit the shelf. Charlie's Sticky Sauce was on its first shelf in months.
The name tells you a lot about the BBQ Sauces: the sticky texture, the thick robust consistency and just the fact it was Charlie's very own creation. The name fit and sounded right. Keeping in mind the health conscious consumer, Charlie's Sticky Sauces are cholesterol free, fat-free, have no preservatives, adders or fillers, artificial colors or flavors and are proudly made in Canada.
